A place to avoid at all cost.
Many people who are trying to avoid excessive hotel rates in the Columbus area have frequented the Days Inn for quite some time.

It IS fairly close to town and has traditionally been clean, well run and cheaper than the in town hotels.

This has changed drasticly lately though. In the past two years the room rates have almost doubled while the quality of service has decreased greatly.

Room maintenance has taken a sharp nose dive.

On a recent visit we had to shift to not less than four different rooms to find one that was in acceptable condition. We are talking major malfunctions, not minor things like a chip in the tub lining. One room did not have cold running water, rendering the shower, sink and toilet useless.

The furnishings are falling apart, the wall paper peeling, fittings and fixtures are frequently cracked, chipped or non-functional.

Lights did not work, room clocks did not work, which can be a real killer when you are on a tight lecture schedule.

Worst of all is the poor customer service from the front desk and management.

The first of the rooms we had was so hot it was unliveable, causing us to complain four times throughout the night and to have no sleep at all.

Any respectable hotel would have put us into another room immediate or fixed the problem. They did neither until I was forced to demand that I speak to the actual owner and even then they tried to feed us a song and dance about the problem and lied directly to my face about the cause of certain problems which anyone could easily see for themselves.

So to sum it all up, this is a facility to avoid and one that will be hearing from several health and safety agencies in the near future. - Verminator , posted 07/09/05
