Service and quality need be consistent
The first time we visited everything was excellent, Sitting at the bar as we didnt have reservations we started off the evening with the stuffed peppers , the flavor was intense with aged mozzarella just browned enough on the top to add a subtle texture. We had a decent selection of beer to choose from; I chose the Stella Artois which in my oppinion accented the peppers quite well. The main course I chose was the Filet and despite asking for it medium well ( I know most feel its a sin to order a filet that way) it came out tender and full of flavor. Overall that evening lingered in our minds just enough to drive us back the next weekend, However this time we made reservations...thinking ahead. The evening started off pretty well with the exception that our server would not speak up, we had a hard time hearing him, and overall his performance was lacking. When we ordered the peppers this time my mouth was watering in anticipation , however when they arrived I was mildly dissapointed, It lacked the flavor of the aged mozzarella, the diplay on the plate was messy and overall the flavor was amiss. When we received our entree's I was quickly brouht back to a state of desire , but again another dissapointment, My steak was overcooked and tougher than the duke boys on steroids(pun). The only redemption that evening held was the Desert, Tiramisu one of my favorite treats and it was delicious and so fresh I swore they made it especially for me.
It was a hard choice on rating The Chop House a "3" and if it were just the first visit I would have went 4 or 5, but on the second it went way down, perhaps in the future I will try again and hopefully everything will measure up to my first visit.
